Celebrity chef makes flying visit to local dairy farm

We welcomed celebrity chef Manu Feildel for a tour of our dairy and processing plant on Saturday.

The team at Bethune Lane Dairy were up early this morning polishing their gumboots in anticipation of a visit from celebrity chef Manu Feildel, who was touring the region to gather local produce to prepare a banquet dinner.

Arriving via helicopter, Feildel landed in a paddock on Paul and Sally Bethune’s dairy farm at Lake Boga for a short tour of both the dairy and micro-processing factory where milk, yoghurt and chocolate flavoured milk are processed.

The celebrity chef, known for his role as a judge on Channel 7’s ‘My Kitchen Rules,’ showed great interest in the dairy and was notably impressed at the speed at which cows are milked.

“Wow, 700 cows milked in an hour and a half!” Feildel exclaimed.

Of course, no tour of Bethune Lane Dairy would be complete without a taste test of the produce.

“Manu was really friendly and genuinely interested in what we’re doing here on our farm. He was really interested in how many cows we milk and enjoyed tasting our chocolate milk and yoghurt,” Mr Bethune said.

Chef Feildel left the farm armed with an ample supply of milk and yoghurt to prepare a panna cotta dessert at the Apiam Chef and Chandeliers Gala event held in Cohuna on Saturday night. Mrs Bethune was proud to have their products feature on the menu for this exciting event.

“It’s such a great opportunity for food producers in our region to show the rest of Australia what we can grow and make here and the high quality of food we produce here.” Mrs Bethune said.

The gala event was organised by Cohuna and District Progress Association to promote the outstanding quality of produce in the region.
